Day trip

This tiny island a 20 minute ferry ride from Portugal Cove is a treasure and makes for a great day trip. Be sure to catch the first ferry so you have the day to explore. There's the mine shaft tour, hikes, and Dick's restaurant for the best fish n chips!

Sightseeing

Petty Harbour is a quaint fishing village 30 minutes drive from St. John's. If you're travelingwith children the Petty Harbour Aquarium is a must do experience for them. They will enjoy handling all the delightful tiny sea creatures that dot our shores. Chafe's Landing has a wonderful menu that features several dishes of locally caught cod. It is also a spot you may see Alan Doyle or Russell Crowe when they're in town!

There is an abundance of local handcrafted items from soaps, jewelry, cutting boards, barbeque sauces, chutneys, and jams and jellies. Local farmers also have a variety of locally grown vegetable and farm raised meats.
