Hoedspruit
Bordering town to the Kruger Park with various rehabilitation centers and great lodges for those not wanting to stay in the Park. I personally love the experience at the Moholoholo rehab center as well as the amazing job they do at the Cheetah center

What a unique 30 meter quartzite rock that erupts from the earth’s surface, it is covered in aloe and unique plants species. There is an entrance fee charge here and ablutions facilities and vendors with local gifts at this awesome site.

For those that want to see the Gorge but don't want to see it from the Bungee jumping perspective, boy oh boy is this the way to do it. Safely tucked away in the glass lift you are taken down to the breathtaking valley down below to experience nature from a different angle

It is absolutely amazing to see how the power of water has carved out the potholes as they are famously know as. Here and there you will get a glimmer of light shining from below from the local inhabitant fish too. Just breathtaking.

Above Scenic is what I would call these three individual giant pieces of rock formation, I was told by a friend that there are fauna and flaura that have never mutated since those pieces have been cut off from the mainland. Fascinating

Unlike the Grand and Fish River Canyon, the Blyde River Canyon is a "green canyon" which is dominated by subtropical vegetation. The Blyde River Canyon passes a rock formation known as the "Three Rondavels". So named as the formation resembles three African-style houses or rondavels.

Here you can have a place to stop over for a meal or even have a look at the hikes they have on their property. Friends of mine enjoy the Leopard hike if would recommend that you have some level of fitness for this hike. It is well worth the hike for the great swim at the waterfall at the end. And Yes you can swim here even in winter, you will see when you have done this hike that the need for a cooling down session is so well deserved

All waterfalls and historical sites charges for entrance, be prepared that they charge per person and not per car these days:
SAFCOL SITES April 2022: All waterfalls = R16 per person
Mac Mac Pools = R36 per person
MTPA SITES May 2022:
Each site varies between R25.00 up to R130.00 I suggest that you call in advance to confirm the pricing

Wear non-slip shoes on sight seeing
Also pack something warm even for the Summer months as it can get chilly after a Summer thunderstorm when the wind comes up. I am not talking about layers just something light to wear.

Que faut-il apporter ?
Winter months in the Lowveld is tricky
Please be aware that winter in the Lowveld and the the escarpment is tricky. Day time temperatures can easily tease us with temp of 22 even up to 24 degrees Celsius. However the night time temperature is something to be aware of. Please do pack accordingly as it can get bitterly cold with temperatures as low as 4 degrees on the escarpment at night.

No Public Transport is available
Unfortunately there is now public transport available in South Africa. However it is safe to rent a vehicle and do a self-drive experience. Another alternative is to book day excursions or a guided tour.
