Beautiful beaches

All of the beaches in Cornwall are beautiful, here are some of my favourites that are easy to reach from the house.
Hayle beach is a stunning 3 mile long white sand beach backed by sand dunes. The water is an amazing turquoise colour & it shelves gently making it very safe for children. There are lifeguards in the season. It is only a few minutes by car from the house or a 20 minute walk.

Carbis bay is a beautiful beach overlooked by the Carbis Bay Hotel, famous for hosting the G20 summit. The Hotel has a lovely cafe with a terrace overlooking the beach, the perfect place for morning coffee or a sundowner drink. It is only 3 miles from the house

Gwithian beach is at the far end of Hayle beach & you can walk there from Hayle at low tide. It’s around a 10 minute drive from the house & has two lovely cafes overlooking the beach, Sunset & Surf and the Jampot, which is perched on the dunes & serves delicious home made cakes.

Godrevy point is a stunning cliff overlooking Godrevy lighthouse. It is owned by the National Trust & has several large car parks. At certain times of year you can see the seals sleeping on the beach below the cliffs, it’s a fantastic thing to see.

Sightseeing

St Ives is one of the most picturesque old fishing port towns in Cornwall. Surrounded by beautiful beaches, with its cobbled narrow streets & quaint cottages it’s a must to visit. It has numerous art galleries including the Tate Gallery. There are lots of really interesting independent shops, cafes & bars. It is only 4 miles from the house. Parking is very difficult, I would recommend using the St Erth park & ride train, which is only a couple of miles from the house. It’s cheap to park & then take the short train ride along the stunning coast line for 10 minutes. Fantastic journey for both adults & children & really has to be done! The cafe at the quaint St Erth station is lovely & serves wonderful home made cakes.

Hayle town is only a 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive from the house. It is a lovely seaside town with a river running through it. Nestling on the edge of the dunes of the stunning Hayle beach, it has a great selection of shops, cafes, restaurants & take always. There is a large Asda, Lidl, Home Bargains & many independent shops, including two of the famous Philps pasty shops . There is also a small retail park on the edge of Hayle with a large M &S , Next & large Boots store. So you have everything you need on your doorstep. One of the best cafes in town is Duckie’s near the railway bridge & offering fantastic home made food at reasonable prices. If you don’t fancy cooking, they also sell home made frozen dishes to eat at home. At the Copperhouse end of town, the far end from the railway bridge is a small cafe called Copperwaves selling excellent coffee & cake. Lula’s shack on the estuary/ edge of the beach is a stunning place to have drinks, sadly wouldn’t recommend the food.

Truro is a little further, a half hour drive or train ride. It is the capital of Cornwall & a beautiful city with a large range of high street & independent shops. The centre of the city is dominated by the beautiful cathedral. An excellent cafe for lunch or tea & cake is Bread & Butter, which has a lovely garden with wooden pods.
