It is probably the last great funky place to have a lobster, a friend clam dinner, a great cup of chowder- take it to go, eat there on patio, or walk down to the boat landing and eat on the beach overlooking the creeks. Excellent value.

It is the home of the Great Hall, site of important speeches made by Frederick Douglass, Emerson and Thoreau. It is where Maria Mitchell was a librarian for twenty years. It is a gracious library in a beautifully maintained, architecturally unique building.
