Things To Do
At Cave Point County Park, along the shoreline are rock formations created by the crashing waves of Lake Michigan, twisty trees that have grown in between the rocks, and nice walking paths through the woods. You’ll see some brave “cliff” jumpers, but please be mindful of the conditions if you do this; Cave Point can be very dangerous year round. Cave Point is a must during your stay in Door County.

For fun for kids and adults alike, check out The Farm. You can purchase bottles of milk for goats and pigs and corn for goats and spend a few hours enjoying, petting, and feeding the many animals The Farm cares for.

Don’t miss Peninsula State Park during your stay - it is beautiful! Whether you want to just take a drive through or make a day out of it, you’ll love the park. Stop at Nicolet Beach and have lunch at Backbone Food Truck (a family friend of ours), walk up the Eagle Bluff Tower, and take a walk on Eagle Bluff Trail. If you’re there at night, stop by the Northern Sky Theater for a family-friendly musical (tickets needed in advance).

Finding a place to leave your name might be hard, but it’s fun to see the marriage proposals, baby announcements, and family trips left all over these walls. The small art gallery inside is wonderful as well.

Beginning in Sturgeon Bay and ending in Gill’s Rock, the Door County Scenic Byway is a 66-mile drive that offers gorgeous views and recreational stops along the way. You’ll probably be on it during most of your adventures in Door County, but it’s worth a trip all the way up to Gill’s Rock for the curvy road before you get to the Washington Island Ferry. The road’s curves were designed to slow drivers down to enjoy the natural beauty of Door County.

For all things Door County apple and cherry, we love Lautenbach’s. Their apple cider donuts are some of the best (we fight over if we like theirs or the Wood Orchard Market’s more) and their apple pies are to die for and baked daily.

They serve incredible sandwiches, soups, salads, and cheese boards, and you have to get a cup of goat’s milk gelato before you go. They also sell their goat’s milk cheeses (try the chevre) and other goat products. This is a must!

Hatch’s craft cocktails are delicious. They distill their own liquor and we love their gin. Have a cocktail at their bar and pick up a bottle to enjoy back at Cedarwood.
