Food Scene

If you are a seafood aficionado, this is the very best seafood restaurant in the Back Bay, IMO. They feature crudos, raw bar as well as some great New England staples paired with wonderful European wine selections. They don't take reservations and they are always on a wait list but it's a do not miss if you are looking to experience the very best!

Fun spot to visit for all things Italian! As you wander around, there are plenty to delight the senses - Fresh groceries, imported specialty canned and packaged goods, fresh pasta, cheese (like a mozzarella making station), a cannoli cart, a gelato stand, a salad stand, a coffee shop, a pizza bar, and pretty much anything you can think of. Worth the trip for the entertaining atmosphere and selection.

Best of the best for oysters in the entire town. Never disappoints and it's an excellent spot for brunch or dinner and worthy as a special occasion restaurant. I highly recommend the raw oyster selections (changes daily), fried oysters and their oyster sliders.

Located in the South End, this is the best fusion Spanish tapas restaurant around in Boston. No reservations policy but it's a culinary delight. If you are lucky enough to swag a seat, order the grilled corn!

Love this place for brunch - boozy brunch or otherwise :P Not going to lie...it's yet another place where I guarantee there's a line past 10am. Best for traditional favorites but done with quality ingredients with a slightly more upscale twist. Expect a wait but there's call ahead to put your name on the waiting list (that's good right?) but if you do end up on the wait list, you will have to wait outside so depending on the season, you'll need to decide if you'll be able to take on the crisp New England weather.

If you're a die hard tourist and even worse, a seafood lover too, it's a beautiful disaster here. Net-net: Well coordinated staff to make sure seating is efficient and if this is in your itinerary AT ALL, start here first to place your name on the wait list and work backwards. Estimated wait time can be anywhere from 1-2 hours. As a native Bostonian, it's still hard for me to figure out when the best time is to come here. Not to be missed for sure. Honorable mentions off the menu: Crab cocktail triple hands down and the oysters!

Great nightcap spot in the Lenox hotel. Ambiance is calming and they can make some mean martinis. The secret is the crushed ice they keep right at the bar with their martini glasses nicely chilled so there's this perfectly slushy iced layer on your glass when your drink is served.

Parks & Nature

Oldest city park in the U.S. and used as a camp by the British before the American Revolutionary War. Also the start of the official Freedom Trail. Some of my fondest memories are in this park as a child playing in the Frog Pond and as a teenager giving tours to visitors in the summer as a Jr Park Ranger.

Adjacent to the Boston Common, during the warmer seasons, this park serves as the home to many ducks, as well as one or more swans. Visitors will find the Swan Boat rides which are pedaled around the pond by a tour guide sitting within the swan a great hit! There are also a great many statues of notable mention, one of which is the Equestrian Statue of George Washington.

The most beautiful 17-mile stretch of land along the Charles River. Most popularly known for the infamous Boston Pops performances at the Hatch Shell and fireworks during July 4th and New Years Eve annually. Perfect place to rollerblade, bike, run or walk or just get some sun and people-watch. Personal note: I was proposed to here! For the curious, apparently this is one of the only fly-friendly zones in Boston if you ever want to send a proposal message in the air ;) Direct access from the back exit of the apartment to the Dartmouth Street bridge connecting you to the Esplanade in less than 30 seconds!

Boston's newest destination for upscale restaurants, nightlife and amazing water views, especially at the Legal Harborside and Temazcal Tequila Cantina. Who would have thought just 10 years ago, it was just an aquatic cargo shipping yard? Notable restaurants, all 4 or more stars: Row 34, Menton, Sportello and Committee. Fantastic views: Envoy Hotel, Legal Harborside Nightlife: The Grand, The Sky Lounge, Drink (be warned....LONG lines, plan carefully) Suggested plan of action: If coming from the apartment, it's 3 miles so I would definitely Uber or take public transportation. If you are in the Faneuil Hall or North End area already, then it's reasonable to walk there.
