Today, Madeira Beach, a Gulf of Mexico beach city just west of St. Petersburg, is best known for the sea-themed John's Pass Village and Boardwalk, which serves up shops and eateries and a 1,100-foot boardwalk along the Intracoastal. Madeira Beach's 2.5-mile beach attracts devotees of sun and sea, and fishing in the primary sport activity. More grouper is brought into John's Pass than any other place in the state. In addition, each October, Madeira Beach hosts the Seafood Festival at John's Pass, which attracts as many as 130,000 visitors to its celebration of food, music, and arts and crafts.

Located at the western end of the Dunedin Causeway, Honeymoon Island State Park is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of urban living. The park has over 4 miles of beach with great swimming, fishing and shelling. There is also a section of beach that you can take your pet. Pets must be kept on a six-foot handheld leash while they are in the park.
For the nature lover the three-mile Osprey trail takes you through one of the last remaining virgin slash pine forest in Florida. On the trail, visitors may spot great horned owls, osprey and eagles nesting. A trip to the Rotary Centennial Nature Center helps educate visitors about the park’s history and natural resources.
There are two snack bars located in the park. The South Beach Pavilion and Café Honeymoon provide food, beverages and rent beach umbrellas and chairs, kayaks and bicycles.
