Virpazar is a small fishing village on the road between Podgorica and the Montenegrin coast. It lies at the point where the rivers Crmnica and Orahovštica meet and flow into Lake Skadar. During the spring, the high level of the lake turns Virpazar into an island connected to the mainland with its three old, stone bridges. The village is located in the central part of Crmnica, a fertile region with a favorable climate for growing vines, olives and all other types of fruits and vegetables. Virpazar is also the starting point for most boat trips on Lake Skadar. The town of Vir was first mentioned in 1242 and it is very possible that it was a small trading center for all the surrounding villages, even at that time. In the 15th century, Vir was captured by the Turks and the Besac fortress was built, which still stands on the hill above the village. When the Turks were expelled from the fortress at the beginning of the 18th century, the village became the most important trading center in Montenegro, frequented by merchants from Podgorica and Shkodra. His role during this period left a lasting mark on Vir by adding the word Pazar ("market") to his name. It had a busy port, and in 1908 it was connected to Bar by a small railway, the first in Montenegro. Virpazar is also known for the July 13 uprising in 1941, when the inhabitants of the surrounding villages attacked the Italian garrison and liberated Virpazar, after hearing that the Italian occupiers had announced the "independence" of Montenegro. Virpazar is well connected to Podgorica by railway and highway. If you are coming from the direction of Podgorica, you must be very careful not to miss the sharp turn on the left side of the road, which leads straight across the bridge into the village. The houses in Virpazar are built in a circle with the front facades facing the wide square and the back facing the water. In the middle of the tree-covered square there is an old fountain with drinking water, and around the square there are three restaurants and a tourist information center. Almost every day on the square you will be greeted by locals selling their home-made products such as the famous Crmnica wine and grape brandy, but the best day for shopping is Friday, the local market day. Across the old, stone bridge, on a high rock, there is a commemorative plaque for the 13th of July Uprising. A short walk along the asphalt road uphill will take you to the Besac fortress. This well-preserved fortress was built by the Turks in 1478. In the period between the two world wars, it served as a police station, and during the Italian occupation as their stronghold. Besac has outer walls that enclose a large courtyard and a citadel with circular towers on its four sides. You can climb to the very top of the fortress, from where you will enjoy the view of Virpazar and the marshy area that surrounds it.

The name of the valley is associated with the founder of Cetinje, Ivan Crnojević. More precisely, the name refers to the path of a stream, water that springs up on the Treštanik mountain and in this valley is collected in a stone reservoir and then overflows into a trough made, according to tradition, of beech logs built by Ivan the Bey. More than 1,000 plant species grow on the territory of the valley. Tivat, the youngest city in the Bay of Kotor, was founded at the foot of the Vrmac mountain, which separates it from the city of Kotor. In the written sources found in the Archives of Kotor, in the 14th century, the following names of the city are mentioned: Teude, Theode and Theudo. Tivan is a city of great changes and incredible destiny. It used to be the summer resort of rulers, nobles and poets. Tivat enjoyed a peaceful history until the end of the 19th century. However, then the Austrian admiral knocked on Captain Marko Krstović's door and announced the establishment of an Austro-Hungarian military base on the banks of the Tivat. Tivat became an arsenal, a military port and a shipyard. Craftsmen, locksmiths and shipbuilders were trained in Tivat for a whole century. History repeats itself, thanks to Canadian billionaire Peter Munk, Tivat will once again become a summer resort for nobles and European billionaires, providing great opportunities for elite tourism. Namely, Peter Munk had a different vision of the city of Tivat. Instead of gray military ships, he saw expensive white yachts, instead of blue uniforms – Chanel suits. The biggest and most beautiful yachts, which sail under the flags of countries all over the world, will come and stay in the most luxurious marina on the Mediterranean - Porto Montenegro. Where to stay in Tivat? The small airport of Tivat is only 3 km south of the city. Although there is no organized public transport to the city, taxis can be very affordable. Tivat has several small hotels, with very favorable prices, mostly along the coast. The tourist organization of Tivat has a very good catalog of private accommodation, both in the city itself and in the suburbs. Porto Montenegro also offers accommodation in luxurious villas with a beautiful view of the sea, as well as numerous cafe bars and restaurants with local and international specialties. What to do and see in Tivat? Tivat does not have a classical center. When you come to the city, rather ask for Pine - the city promenade. Here you can take a walk along the sea or enjoy coffee and cakes in one of the bars. Tivat lacks sandy and pebble beaches. Along the coast you can mostly find concrete pontoons. However, there are also beautiful sandy beaches in the suburbs or on the Luštica peninsula. The city park, laid out on the land of noble families from Kotor in 1982, is a real botanical garden, an area where you can find fir, cedar and pine trees, as well as numerous exotic plants that sailors brought from their travels around the world. If you want to experience the charms of Tivat from the sea, as well as other towns in the Bay of Kotor, you can book a trip to Boka Kotorska by boat, organized by Globtour Montenegro. You can also complete your free time by visiting the following sights, recommended by Globtour Montenegro: Summer cottage Buća, a noble family from Kotor, built more than half a millennium ago. Today it is a museum and gallery, in whose garden there is a summer stage. The village of Gornja Lastva - an idyllic village with stone houses and a church dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin. Only 3 km north of Tivat, on the mountain Vrmac, from which there is a wonderful view of the bay and the Luštica peninsula. Three islands in Tivat Bay: *Island of flowers, with the remains of the monastery of St. Michael the Archangel from the 13th century *Sveti Marko island, the largest island in the Bay of Kotor, in the 70s a very popular resort of the French company Club Med *Our Lady of Mercy, the island where the monks built the Church of the Immaculate Conception, which once belonged to the Jesuit order. In the summer period, numerous outdoor cultural and entertainment programs are held in Tivat, among them the "Purgatory" theater festival. You can enjoy the flavors of Mediterranean cuisine in numerous restaurants. You can choose between fish restaurants that always serve fresh fish and seafood, or taverns and pizzerias. Nightlife in Tivat Visitors to Tivat can always have a good time in numerous open-air bars, with various musical styles and live music. The fun continues in nightclubs and discos until the early hours of the morning.

Kotor is one of the oldest cities and ports on the Adriatic. The city is enclosed within its walls like a baby in a cradle. It was founded and built by the Romans in the 9th century. Kotor is part of the UNESCO cultural heritage, a magnificent tourist destination in the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro. Thanks to four centuries of Venetian rule, typical Venetian architecture dominates Kotor, which makes it unique. During the 16th century, Renaissance literature contributed to the further development of the city: the most famous writers were Bernardo Pima, Nicola Chierlo, Luca Bisanti, Alberto de Gliricis, Domenico and Vincenzo Burchia, Vincenzo Ceci, Antonio Zambella and Francesco Morandi. Recently, Kotor is the most visited destination in Montenegro with a constant increase in visitors. Kotor is a lively and well-visited city, and if you prefer a quieter vacation, we suggest that you visit Kotor in May or October. Kotor with its architecture, maritime schools and Dalmatian charm is a wonderful destination that you must visit. The old town will take you back to the Middle Ages. Where to stay in the Bay of Kotor The Bay of Kotor is a destination for romantic as well as family vacations. Its location allows you to visit other interesting destinations in Montenegro. If you want more excitement, you can book day trips or rent a car. The places we recommend are the capital of Montenegro, Podgrica, the canyon of the Tara river and Budva. For your stay in Kotor, we recommend nearby fishing villages such as Perast, Risan or Prčanj, which are well connected to Kotor, but can still provide a peaceful and pleasant vacation. These villages were once home to famous Montenegrin sailors, and today they are health resorts, given that the air in the bay is very rich in iodine and has always been the best destination for family vacations. Perast, Risan and Prčanj are beautiful, small towns with enchanting architecture and a wonderful atmosphere. Risan seems to be cut off from the rest of the bay. Here you can find modern beaches. Prčanj is a fishing village with the largest church, and is the closest to Kotor, yet it guarantees peace and quiet to all tourists and visitors who want a more intimate and peaceful vacation. What to do in Kotor Shopping: In the Old Town of Kotor you can find a large number of shops and boutiques. Boutiques offer modern and branded clothing, mostly from Italian designers. However, do not expect seasonal shopping, both because of the high prices and because of the insufficient selection of goods. In Kotor you will find small restaurants serving the best dishes of Dalmatian and Balkan cuisine. The prices are very reasonable, unless you want fish. Pleasant! In front of the main gate of the Old Town, across from the Kotor waterfront, there is a charming, small green market. Old Kotor residents remember it as a place where goods have always been exchanged. Today, the green market offers bio and eco food at slightly higher prices. Don't be surprised! Nightlife in Kotor, like in all other countries, consists of night clubs, bars and discotheques. You can have fun in the Old Town, as well as outside the walls of the Old Town of Kotor. The parties in the bars last until 1 a.m. and then continue in several famous discotheques.

Gorica hill is located in the immediate vicinity of the center of Podgorica, it is a very popular picnic spot and is a true paradise for recreationists. In Gorica, there is a Monument to the Partisan Fighter, an adventure park, well-maintained hiking, cycling and fitness trails, as well as a Mediterranean garden where visitors can learn about a significant number of endemic species. From the hill there is a wonderful view of the right side of Morača, as well as the contours of the Millennium Bridge. It is attractive for visitors throughout the year, but especially in hot summer days, when shade and clean air are sought in the capital of Montenegro. In recent years, more and more people have been using Gorica as a place to gain physical fitness from various sports-recreational and professional disciplines. Being in nature itself is healing, especially in a forest like the pine tree in Gorica, and it has been proven that pine trees emit phytocidal chemical substances that purify (sterilize) the air. This reflects the health importance of Gorica for the human body. The hill is a natural shield against the north wind in winter.

Brdo Ljubović (101 m above sea level) is a hill located near the center of Podgorica, i.e. a conical limestone hill overgrown with pines and wild types of grass and medicinal plants. Like the Gorica park, it represents the forest and the Podgorica picnic area. It is surrounded on the west, south and east sides by the Zabjelo settlement, and on the north by the Stara Varoš settlement. The significance of the hill has changed throughout history. The hill was forested in the 20th century, just like the Gorica hill. The picnic area has pedestrian and bicycle paths, arranged furniture and green areas, and a modern road has been paved that includes the most important points for walking, sports and recreation. It is attractive for visitors throughout the year. The road is not accessible to motor vehicles. Although the hummocks are conical in shape, each of them takes a certain direction, and Ljubović extends in a northwest-southeast direction. In the relief, despite the good forest cover, limestone blocks clearly stand out on the eastern and northern sides of the elevation, where the limestone erosion has taken the most momentum, and there is also a smaller cave on the northern side of the elevation.

The small town on the river of the same name is one of the most beautiful towns in Montenegro. The Crnojevica River is easily accessible from the Podgorica-Cetinje main road. The beginning of the story of the town is linked to the ruler of Zeta, Ivan Crnojevic (1465–1490), who, in order to avoid the Turkish army, built a fortress and a monastery on Oboda, whose church is dedicated to Saint Nicholas. He transferred his capital there from the Žabljak fortress, and the monastery became the seat of the Zeta Metropolitanate. In the town itself, the remains of historical buildings from the time of Ivan Crnojevic have been preserved, such as the basement room of a long-destroyed building, which is connected to the work of the so-called Obod printing house, where the first Cyrillic book "Oktoih prvoglasnik" was printed in 1494. In addition, the first pharmacy in Montenegro was opened in this area, as well as the first weapons workshop. At the beginning of the 20th century in the "Marica" factory, mother-of-pearl - pearl made from fish scales - was produced. During the 19th and early 20th centuries, the Crnojevica River was the largest Montenegrin port and a leading trade center. A particularly prized product of this region was dry ukleja due to its uniqueness and exceptional taste, which was also highly sought after on Italian tables. At the entrance to Rijeka Crnojevica is the stone "Danilov Most". It was built by Prince Danilo in 1853 in memory of his father Stanko Petrovic. Next to the bridge, on the left bank of the river, he built a one-story house known as "Mostina", which has been preserved to this day. The oldest preserved building in Rijeka Crnojevica is the house of Saint Peter. Enjoying a visit to this place is complemented by a rich gastronomic offer of authentic fish specialties, themed walks, and kayaking.
