This is close to Saranac Brewery and other bars up and down Verick Street. Thursday and Friday nights are the best in the Summer here with the music series at the brewery. Make sure you secure a safe ride home before heading there!

Every Thursday and Friday in the Summer they have a concert series. It's on Verick Street, which is roped off and you can go from bar-to-bar. Make sure you secure a safe ride home!

This place is also a restaurant, but I go there mainly for the nightlife and live music. Tuesday's is wing night, if you are into wings! There is also a section to smoke cigars if that's your thing.

This is a "hipster" bar if you are looking that. It's got a great rotation of craft beers, good music and really nice, attentive bartenders.

This is a Wine bar, which is attached and owned by the Restauranteurs of Nola's. If you want a night cap in a cozy, intimate upscale bar, pop over to the Annex and enjoy wines from all over the world.

You will be able to sample some of the BEST utica Italian dishes here. The hope over to Cavallo's (just down the street). They have a great outdoor bar with live music most weekends and a cigar room if you want to sample a Stogie.

This price is a little pricey for our area but totally worth it! Great food and very nice upscale bar. If you are looking for something a little less rowdy and a bit more romantic or quiet, this is your place.

Great food in an adorable little town called Clinton (where I was born and raised!) Stop over at the local pub for a drink after, called The Village Tavern. Great local spot. Divy and awesome.

This is hands down our favorite restaurant. Casual atmosphere with incredibly fresh, homemade dishes- from the bread and dressings to the aged porterhouse steak. There is not a bad dish in this place. My husband and I live an Boston and we've yet to find a spot that compares. I recommend you TRY EVERYTHING on the menu.

Parks & Nature

Hands down, my FAVORITE place in the area. Take the back country roads (take the option for toll roads off your GPS). It's an extra 15 minutes at most, and TOTALLY worth it. You'll be driving down gorgeous rolling hills with farms and beautiful scenery. The gorges are amazing and you can walk through them, about .75 miles. Wear something that attaches to your feet (sneakers or velcro'ed sandals) with good treads, because the rocks are slippery.

Essentials

Great for incidentals and great deli as well. The family makes a lot of homemade desserts and mediterranean food, so stop by and have a yummy, cheap lunch! Hang with the locals. You'll find that a lot of the blue-collared locals come for lunch. They all know each other.

Sightseeing

Woodgate, NY is the start of the Adirondack park. You can drive the scenic route from Woodgate, through Old Forge and see the Fulton Chain Lakes. There are eight lakes, which were discovered in about 1811 and numbered 1-8. In the park, you can hike, ski, swim and possibly get a glimpse of a black bear! Great restaurants and scenery. If you are feeling up to it, you can causally drive the scenic route from Ottor Lake to into the Lake Placid, home of Whiteface Mountain.
