Local Markets

Can be pricey, but the meat/seafood counter and produce are the best in town. They also have a wonderful sandwich bar, cheese counter, and prepared food section that are good to hit before you go our wine tasting (it can get very busy at lunchtime!).

One of Healdsburg's hidden gems and a locals favorite. Come to stock the kitchen with pork shoulder, pre-seasoned carne asada, fresh queso fresco and crema, and plenty of fresh and reasonably-priced fruit and vegetables. Our most epic taco nights always start here.

Amazing meat counter, prepared foods, and generally an awesome grocery store. Worth the short drive down 101 to Windsor. They also do amazing BBQ on the weekends.

Parks & Nature

Small but conveniently located trail system with great views of Alexander Valley. Stroller friendly and good mix of shade and sun. Watch out for yellow jackets in the summer!

Great playground and huge grass area for soccer and sports. The park also has a short trail that leads to one fo the few public (and somewhat secret!) riverfront beaches in town, where you can hang and swim, paddleboard, etc.

Our Favorite Wineries

Best family-friendly winery in town. If you have young kids, this is the place for you. Two tasting rooms on the property, plus a beautiful patio, grassy area for blankets, picnic tables, clusters of their signature red Adirondack chairs along the shaded banks of Dry Creek. Goats, sheep and chickens to keep the kids occupied. We like VMLs selection of wine better than Truett Hurst. Bring a blanket, buy a bottle, and kill an afternoon here.

Stunning outdoor patio tastings set back from bustling Dry Creek Road on a property full of mature oak trees. Winemaker Noah Dorrance and his wife Kelly have impeccable taste in both wine and ambiance; Reeve is where the cool kids hang out; and they are super nice to boot. Tastings are by appointment only.

Fantastic pinot noir and rose in a beautiful, comfortable space. They sell wines by the glass and snacks, so also a great place for happy hour before dinner in town.

Eclectic selection of interesting and unique wines for the region. Don't look for heavy cabs and zins here...instead you'll find European-style wines from Mediterranean grape varieties. Not to be missed.

One of Alexander Valley's most sought-after labels, but still small-batch and family-owned. Their single vineyard cabs are not to be missed. Jake Hawkes and his wife Laura just launched a second label, Carpenter, that is equally impressive - call for appointment-only Carpenter tastings at their studio off of Chalk Hill.

The latest label from Noah Dorrance, the winemaker behind Banshee and Reeve, this is the new hot tasting room in town. A slightly lower price point than Reeve; their bubbles are fantastic and the Carignan is unique for the region.

Another family-friendly gem, they have a small lawn outside that squirmy kids can run around on while mom and dad can eat/drink in peace. Top Chef Doug Keane is the owner and designed the menu; bar food but very good.
