Park with beautiful old trees and green space, just off of Dow's Lake. Great spot to bike to for a picnic (15 minutes on bike from the house). Tobogganing in the winter. Tulip festival in spring. Close to Ottawa's experimental farms.

Bring a picnic and sit on the sand/ hill or the restaurant terrace :) There's a restaurant at the beach for meals or ice cream, etc. The bike path is right by the beach. On Sunday in the summer the Parkway is closed off to cars in the morning for biking.

Westboro has a plethora of outdoor gear stores, but MEC is definitely your all-in-one. Kayaks and bikes can be rented from here in warmer months and snow shoes and x-coutnry skis in winter.
