Bucharest has a great food scene, these are some of our favourite restaurants (mostly within walking distance of the apartment)

Amazing traditional Romanian food in a very funky atmosphere. Highly recommend, but not the cheapest place (order the "sarmale" (cabbage rolls) and "fasole batute" (bean dip)

Sightseeing
Must visit, Ceaucescu's enormous parliament building. Check their website to reserve a tour (can only visit with a guide). 10-12 minute walk from the apartment (use Google maps for the short-cuts using back streets)

Parks & Nature
The biggest park in Bucharest. In the summertime, there are always events organised (especially for children). There is a large lake in the center of the park, and nice terraces along the lake

- Driving - 30 minutes with no traffic, 1-1.5 hours with heavy traffic

There are lots of malls all throughout the city, as well as independently owned shops pretty much everywhere you go. Let us know if you are looking for something specific :)
