Institution status bakery (been in busy 30+ years). Delicious, authentic Italian baking, breads and.... gelato! Walking distance from our place. Closest place to get a coffee to go (though not the BEST you can get for coffee.)

This is a locals spot! It's our go-to place for a delicious breakfast sandwich and expert latte. Though it's often busy, you won't wait in line long and there are lots of places to sit in this lovely, open and inviting place!

Mo:Le has been a staple to Victorians for many years yet it hasn't become tired and outdated (like some restaurants do) ... it is still loved by locals and serves up one of the best brunches in town. Even if you're not vegetarian you will find something to love at Mo:le! Expect a line up, though you might get lucky :)

The Ruby is worth the trip just to wait for a table in their super funky retro lounge. If a duck confit benny sounds like a good way to start the day (trust me, it is!) then head on down!

The Copper Owl has a little bit of everything... Drinks, dancing, and depending on the night, a fun but surprisingly challenging quiz night! Every hipster in Victoria has done it, and so should you!

The Drake is one of our favourite spots to grab a pint! They stock beers made by breweries in the Pacific Northwest, beginning in Oregon and all the way up into BC. It's a nice casual atmosphere where you can sink in and stay awhile.

Parks & Nature

Mount Douglas Park is one of our absolutely favourite places to take our dog Laika. Off-leash walking is welcome. There are many paths - you can have a relatively flat walk through the forest at the base of the mountain, or take a more challenging route up the side of hill for some incredible views of Victoria and Washington. It's a quiet, forested paradise that we are so lucky to have in this city. Ask us for the best place to enter the park.

The chip trail around Cedar Hill Golf Course is walking distance from our place. It's a great because the trail passes through some forest, and also some open with views of Victoria. It's a fantastic place to go for a run or walk. Dogs are welcome on leash.
