Food Scene

Etica Ethical Pizzeria e Mozzarella Bar specialises in authentic Neapolitan food made from ingredients produced by ethical and organic sources. The restaurant looks like a normal home from the outside yet once you walk through the gate you will find a lovely little romantic courtyard adorned with plenty of greenery. Inside it has a homely yet trendy provincial vibe. Of note the pizza oven is set right amongst the seating for the dinners. It is actually a lovely touch. The restaurant is open Wednesday to Sunday from 6pm each night. Make sure you try their Margarita, it is their signature pizza.

Italian food the way it was meant to be, that is what you will find at La Trattoria. The restaurant has been here for 41 years and the history is set to pictures all over the walls. You will see the likes of Mick Jagger, Jon Bon Jovi, Michael Hutchinson, Ayrton Senna, Eric Bana, Simply Red and the like pictured dinning. It's worth a visit just to see the photos. It's homely, hearty, friendly and an Adelaide institution.

A truely beautiful coffee shop that focuses on being organic and sustainable. That means their menu is constantly changing to reflect seasonal produce. They also openly aim to demonstrate that businesses can operate successfully with a very small carbon footprint. Therefore everything from the cafe reflects this. Everything is wood, recycled and just beautifully done. Cafe Troppo is always full and there is a reason for that, the ambience promotes warmth and community; and of course the food and coffee are to die for. A definite to add to your must visit list!

This is a truly beautiful coffee shop by day, yet at night it becomes a cocktail bar. The owner Manuel has created a beautiful rustic vibe that screams contemporary Italian classic. Exposed copper piping punctuates the mixture of cement and woodgrain interior. Yep they even have a cement counter. The colour of choice for the decor is yellow which gives an incredibly fresh feel. As for the for the coffee. Amazing. And the cocktails. Mind blowing. If your going to Rundle Mall make sure you stop in here for a really special experience.

Panacea has a great vibe and you could easily wile away the time drinking wine or sipping latté's Alfresco style while soaking in the ambience of the picturesque street. The food is Mediterranean style restaurant and they have a great wine list. Of note, the restaurant has a tree growing in the centre of a covered courtyard that is complete with a gas fire and inbuilt fish tank. It really is a beautiful part of the restaurant. It is a little on the higher priced side, but you will thoroughly enjoy visiting Panacea.

This is Adelaide's most iconic Greek Restaurant. Set beneath a 40 meter tall heritage chimney this restaurant has a unique charm. The alfresco dinning underneath their permanent street umbrella's is amazing, in fact I much prefer eating outside to eating inside. Don't get me wrong, it has a great feel inside as well, it's just that Halifax Street is so picturesque it would be a shame to miss out on the enjoying the street vibe. In fact, when the sun is setting, you can see all the beautiful colours from the beach just by gazing down the street. And the food, well let's just say, if you like meat, you will love The Greek. Make sure you ask for their Turkish coffee. Your teaspoon will almost stand up it in. (The Chimney Stack is the last remnant of Adelaide's long closed disinfection plant, which was established in 1910).

The bowery is both a coffee shop and lunch spot by day. Yet in the evenings it transforms into an Italian restaurant. Well worth a visit. Great coffee too.

Drinks & Nightlife

Udaberri was the first of the small bars in Adelaide that started a revolution. They were the first laneway bar to get a small venue license and the rest followed, yet Udaberri still sets the standard. This is a lounge style bar that has a wood grain and leather warmth about it. The selection of cocktails is both extensive and exotic. Definitely worth a visit. TIP: Make sure you dress well, it's the sophisticated side of town.

This pub only sells local South Australian wine, beer and food. No imports at all. Considering this pub first opened it's doors in 1876 it is definitely a South Australian icon. It has a great "olde worlde" vibe that perfectly suits a modern crowd. You will find that you can wile away the time sitting on the inbuilt benches build into the pub wall out the front of the pub facing King William Street, Adelaide's main road. It really is a great experience visiting the Kings. They also have great daily meal specials. Great if your looking for a quality cheap eat.

If you want to spend a night singing your heart out in your own private room. Heaven Karaoke is for you. I have spent many a late night here proving to my friends that singing was not a good career choice for me!! If you want a bit of fun, this venue is great. Keep the drinks flowing and I guarantee your friends will start to sound better. ;)

The Astor is a quiet corner pub that boasts great pub food which you can order at any time as they have all day food service. The best thing for me about this pub is being able to grab a beer, sit outside, and watch the world pass by. They have a great balcony so you can also sit up on the balcony when it is open and get a birds eye view on the street.
