There are nice beaches, and restaurants for spending a day. I like to go to anclote restaurant. If you mention that you have gone before they give you a 10% disscount. You can order Aguachile de Camaron or a Guachinago Frito for a very decent price and very tasteful.

Great for having a day at the beach. You can take your own food and drinks , can rent a table and 4 chairs and umbrella for 150 pesos. Its not a fancy a place as there are no restaurants neither hotels or other services, but its good if you want a place where it isnt crowded. Be careful at the waves, sometimes can be dangerous.

The boardwalk ( malecon ) of Puerto Vallarta, is full of restaurants, bars, convenience stores. You can find sand sculptures artists, local painters artist, some local shows at teather. Keep walking south and you reach romantic zone, playa de los muertos, and a European ambience at local restaurants.

Keep walking south and you reach romantic zone, playa de los muertos, and a European ambience at local restaurants.
You can take a ferry at the marina or as I prefer, I drove south to playa boca de tomatlan, I parked there and take a boat to Yelapa Beach. You can rent your own boat for around 1000 pesos and it will take you there and back at the time you want. Or you can take a water taxi at some specific schedules and a better price. The single trip is around 25 to 30 minutes. Once you’re there, you can stay at some of the local restaurants and order a fresh fish. If you like you can take your own drinks and save some money, but be sure to buy them before take the boat.
