Food Scene

A lovely place for breakfast or brunch (try the Eggs Benedict!), or to come sit for coffee and a pastry and catch up with old - or new - friends. OR....head upstairs to the rooftop terrace with a clear view of the Parroquia and the neighborhood of Atascadero and enjoy a cocktail (they make a perfect Negroni) or a glass of wine. Great food, great service, great views.

Bistro Mi Casa is a place that should be reserved for special occasions. There is live music most nights, and the food is exquisite. Located in the Instituto de Allende, you will have an opportunity to view the amazing murals on the way in to the restaurant.

We think Ki'Bok has the best coffee in town, but we're Seattle coffee snobs. :) They also make the most delicious, decadent Chai Tea Latte. Ki'Bok is a very intimate and quiet café

Parks & Nature

We take our dog to the property behind the Charco Del Ingenio (Botanical Garden, which is a great spot to check out) for hours-long walks. You may come across a herd of goats or sheep or cattle, along with horses randomly grazing in the fields. There is a beautiful reservoir full of birds and other wildlife

Casa Tres Agaves is right around the corner from Parqué Juárez, which is a lovely park in the middle of the city. Join a pick-up basketball game; enjoy a morning Tai-chi session or just sit on a bench and people-watch. Many weddings are held in the park Gazebo. Parque Juarez can take some of us back to the innocence of 1950 America where young love is everywhere!

The Tianguis de los Martes, or the "Tuesday Market", is only running on Tuesdays. It opens early and runs until about 3 or 4pm. This is where the locals buy their produce, clothes, chicken, nail-polish, kitchen utensils, furniture, etc. Some of the BEST and least-expensive food can be found here. You'll need to take a taxi to/from the Casitas, but it's well worth it. We recommend you go around noon so you'll still see a good number of people, and you can grab some grub! YUM!
