Drinks & Nightlife

This is actually hotel/restaurant and bar with an upscale atmosphere, piano bar on weekends, cozy, happening place. Has a nice porch bar. Unfortunately, the food has often been disappointing in spite of being very expensive.

This is a great spot especially on the weekend evenings for dancing and people watching. They also have excellent wood fire pizza. There is always a wedding so there is always a party atmosphere. Lots of young adults but it's a mixed crowd. Conveniently, there is always the Brown Room upstairs which is a classy bar with live music and a ski lodge atmosphere. Have never been impressed with the food next door at The Blue Pig but they have a captive audience.

Food Scene

Happy hour on friday nights is wonderful. "5 for 5" offers 5 unique appetizers and a nice red and white wine- all for 5 each. Also, $1 oysters. Busy, small, charming bar area which is sometimes too crowded but worth the wait. The restaurant is also excellent.

Excellent food, casual, reasonably priced, nice bar area. Good wood fired pizza and tasty specials every day. Very popular, no reservations so go early if you mind a wait..... worth the wait though.....we often just sit in the bar area. You can walk behind it to see pretty coastal backwater views and nice sunsets while waiting.

Sightseeing

Iconic Cape May Hotel and historic site. Always happening. See the Night life section about The Boiler Room and The Brown Room. Both good for evening fun. The hotel has a long corridor of historic pictures of Cape May and the hotel from over the years-very interesting. The lawn and veranda are great in the day time for an ice tea, coffee or cocktail. there are always people coming and going especially the wedding crowd arriving often in the late afternoon, all dressed up and ready to head to the lawn or beach for a wedding. Very fun to watch if you like that sort of thing. Family place. Lot of events there from Easter Egg Hunts to Craft shows, to dances and fireworks. Check their website.

Parks & Nature

Great outing with kids or family. Climb the lighthouse. Lots of birders go there and gladly show people the birds that can be seen from the viewing platform. The state park has lots of educational programs for all ages. Also, some very cool hiking/walkiing into the wetland and wooded areas just off the beach.

Great beach for gentle surf, kids and dogs love it. Lots of privacy along a long stretch of beach facing the Delaware Bay. Park and walk in through the dunes, pines and scrub on various paths. Good place for a picnic. Discrete use of alcohol is ignored by the occasional warden.

Cape May Stage- good summer theatre productions. Look online for their “Dinner and Theatre” program with participating restaurants giving an inexpensive package for both.
An old estate house offering high tea and tours and special events. Often have music/food events: Crab and Craft Beer; Art Shows with Music, etc.

Shopping

You name it, you'll find it. It's like the Cape May Boardwalk but a little more upscale. Shops, bars, restaurants, some cheesy, some classy. Great spot to head to for ice cream, people watching, fudge or my favorite-a root beer float at Stewart's :-)

Entertainment & Activities

Fun destination for a bike ride or you can drive there. There's somethingf for everyone. The farm market is charming, they sell produce from the farm, the food is good and you can sit outside or in to eat, they often have a fire pit and a band entertaining the crowd, they have a BBQ, and you can walk or ride around the farm and see pigs, ducks, chickens, etc. Lovely setting DON’T go for their “Farm to Table Dinner”-it was Very expensive and Very disappointing!
