The biggest shopping mall in Fuengirola. Includes all the major brands, a cinema center and the Eroski supermarket has probably a 100m set aside for Spanish ham and cheese delicacy. Eroski also sells one of my favourite chocolate brands - Blanxart (from Barcelona) - at great prices (50% below prices in Sweden)

Sightseeing

Amazing town less than 2h away. Ernest Hemingway visited this lovely place and was inspired by the old bridge and caves. Besides the food is awesome - 3 Michelin guide recommendations in a village with 36 000 inhabitants is not bad :)

Beautiful remains of roman castle. These days the castle offers culture in form of concerts and exhibitions. It's also a lovely 15 minute walk from the apartment and the top offers a nice view of Fuengirola.

One of the most popular sightseeing attractions in Costa del Sol is to visit Gibraltar. Bring your passport and an appetite for fish and ships. Also hold on to your valuables and there are wild monkeys that are experts in being both cute and thiefs. On a clear day this is the best place to spot the continent of Africa. There are buses that go directly from Fuengirola bus station.

Amazing experience at high altitude. A 5km walk where on occasion you stare through a glass floor where 100m separates you from the river below. Bring your bravest heart and book the tickets in time.

The name tells the tale - Speakeasy. It's a classic jazz bar with great drinks and gifted musicians. The place starts to come alive around midnight - when the musicians arrive. If you like to enjoy your drinks in a cool atmosphere this is the place to go.

Loudest restaurant on the beach but you can't complain because you love everything the restaurant screams / serves you. The waiters run around with dozens of different tapas steaming fresh out of the kitchen and scream what they have to offer. "Octopus!" "Halibut!" "Sardines!" Clients respond by screaming back and waving hands: "Here please!" Finally you pay the bill after finding the person screaming "Pay me the bill!". It's a very fun experience and the food is delicious but not something you do both for lunch and dinner at the same day - unless you like to get screamed at ;)

Home cooked food. At home. Pepa has been cooking traditional Spanish food and serving it out of her living room for decades. The food is generously served, excellently cooked and the surroundings in Carratraca as beautiful as they get in Andalucia. A must visit and worth the taxi ride from Malaga (if you don't have a car). You get a 3 course meal for t miss out on buying their home made soap for 1€.

Best coffee in Fuengirola. Best carrot cake I have ever tried. Everything is home made and the scenery and decoration is very creative and bohemic. Feels like your in SOHO, New York around 1970. When in Fuengirola I go there at least once a days and so should you :)

Best breakfast in Andalucia is served from 08:30 and onwards at this warm and cozy location downtown in Malaga (Pje Ntra. Sra. de los Dolores de San Juan 5). Worth the trip from Fuengirola but try to arrive before 10 to avoid the queue. Breakfast is cheap, fast and utterly delicious. For ~3 euros you get a coffee, toast and 5 different types of traditional butters and marmalades including my favorite the sobresada from Menorca.
