Awesome beach hiking trails and not as far away as Torrey Pines State Beach. One of my favorite beaches. On the right tides your can go tide pooling and have a small beach almost to yourself.

Converted US Navy training center and it has everything you need. Restaurants, shopping, art, cafes, parks, playgrounds, and there seems to be some kind of event going on almost every weekend.
