Fantastic trendy 'fusion cuisine' restaurant with an open fire bar. It would be about 3 x more expensive in the South East. Great selection of wines. Lovely walks around, on the docks of the Old River Ouse. Easy parking, 20 min away.

Just about one of the most beautiful beaches I've visited. Great for long walks, all times of year. Lovely little town nearby too. About 45-50 min drive from the Historical home in Wisbech!

You definitely have to see this - walking, cycling, picnic, and some romantic photographs. You can walk all the way to King's Lynn from here.

18th century National Trust property. A historical home and beautiful gardens belonging to National Trust. See how life used to be in the 18th and 19th centuries in Wisbech and in England. An old banking family home, great to visit. Appeared in "Dean Spanley" film with Peter O'Toole - well worth seeing, both the house and the film!

Twelfth century cathedral with frequent theatre and music performances and a beautiful choir. Really shouldn't be missed. With Durham and Ely Cathedrals, it is one of the most important 12th-century buildings in England to have remained largely intact, despite extensions and restoration. Known for its imposing Early English Gothic west facade with its three enormous arches, it is one of the most beautiful of the English cathedrals. Good restaurants just outside of the cathedral close too - so make a day out from this visit!

The cathedral has its origins in AD 672, the present building dating to 1083, and cathedral status was granted it in 1109. The cathedral has more than a quarter of a million visitors per year, so I suppose they are not going there because it's just another anglican church... Highly recommended, and with a town on its doorstep, with many lovely little restaurants.

It's just as good as it gets in terms of little independent cinemas! Leather chairs, drinks allowed, small number of seats, good choice of films. Snuggle with your darling in one of those for a lovely night out.

Sightseeing

There's one Cambridge in England and a few in the former colonies :-), that should tell you how lovely, beautiful, fantastic, great this city is. There's just about anything you need to see and experience. A trip through the fens is another beautiful adventure if you are up for it - and bring your camera if you are into amazing scenery, unbelievable light, birds watching on the way to Cambridge.

Shopping

As they say on their website: "Robert Goddard is an independent quality clothing business with eight stores across East Anglia. The business was founded by George Goddard (Robert’s Grandfather) in 1895. Robert Goddard still offers the same high standards of customer service now as were insisted on by the founder over one hundred years ago." That's what Harrods must have been like back in the days. Well worth a shopping visit and about 30 seconds from the house.

Essentials

Just about the biggest Tesco I've ever seen, apart from a supermarket I once went into in Mexico City... Has a great choice of things (much better than London-based stores) especially in the cider and wine section, but other things too, and definitely cheaper.
