Food Scene

Folks pile into the mountain village for expensive choices. Consider an off-piste alternative. La Petite Cachée refers to the eponymous river flowing nearby but it’s an apt appellation for a well-hidden gem of a restaurant all the same. You’ll find an economical choice of dishes but they’re all extremely well-prepared. La Petite Cachée is the locals’ choice.

Entertainment & Activities

There are plenty of rental choices around Tremblant but none matches the convenience of Cybercycle. Benoît Poirier was a winner of the Québec road championship and now he runs this lovely boutique that sells, fixes, and rents bikes. Located just off Le P’tit Train du Nord bike trail (200 km), it’s the go-to location before heading out. Tip: walk toward the lake until you hit the trail, then head right (north) to hug the Mercier Lake for a few kilometers.

Essentials

For an alternative closer to home, consider Le Marché du Village (Bonichoix), a mini supermarket on chemin du Village (about 900 m from Chalet la Falaise). It’s open late and offers competitive pricing.

Shopping

For a full-size supermarket look no further than IGA. Located on the approach road (Rt. 117), it should be your first stop upon arrival. Ask for locally sourced cheeses, ham, maple syrup, and beer.

Need to rent skis? Need to have them adjusted? Forgot the goggles? Don’t pay full prices on the mountain. Walk 5 minutes from the chalet to Boutique Daniel Lachance. Voted one of ten best ski shops in Canada (sic!), it’s a no-brainer.

Parks & Nature

You have deeded access to Lake Moore but we recommend the public beach at Lake Mercier instead. The beach boasts a launch area for boats, clean bathrooms, and a large grassy lounging space. The water is clean and you’re just 1 ½ km away from the chalet. Life guard supervision until 6 pm. Tip: check with owners of the nearby Auberge La Porte Rouge to see if they would rent you a kayak or a pedalo. For Lake Moore, follow rue Jasmin from chemin du Village to a T-stop (house driveway in front), turn right on a path to a boat berth.

André Lemaire is to tennis coaching what Pierre Plouffe was to water-skiing. André runs the Académie Internationale André Lemaire, which is imbedded within the Mont-Tremblant Beach and Tennis Club. 25 immaculately-maintained clay courts (two locations) await your thirst for hitting the yellow ball. Spending a week in Tremblant? Consider a weekly club membership that offers unlimited playing, beach access, discounted lessons, free round robins, etc.
