Walking along the canal and river is one of my favourite things in Taunton. Resident swans, kingfishers and dog walkers make it a lovely stroll.

My closest park. Great for dog walking, playing football or taking a child to use the playground facilities. If you're lucky you might see a steam train pass on the way! Especially at the weekends.

The Brewhouse is doing an amazing job catering to all sorts of people no matter age or background. The current season includes Michael McIntyre, Steeleye Span, ballet, local theatre group productions, a film at least once a week, craft sessions and all sorts.

One of the few places you can get Indian/Asian foods. Friendly family run the shop, and you never know what you'll come away with. Also an off-licence and a range of regular groceries.

Spelt bread, 'traditional' cakes, pasties, sandwiches and a little cafe in the back. Ideal for picnic or other supplies. Kate and her husband are just lovely.

A locally run co-operative shop where locals sell produce from their gardens, baked goods, crafts, eggs, honey - and you'll never be sure what else! All food producers have to hold a food hygiene certificate. Cakes are excellent value compared with cafes or supermarkets. Get there early for best choice, and check opening hours.
