This is the location for the beach, wild life loop, and light house! If you rent a bike, you will be able to ride in for free and explore every inch of Assateague! Fees are $10/ per day, $20/ for 3 days or $45/ per year

For a small fee (15ish per car), you may enter Assateague Island. About halfway to the beach, there is a pull-off spot that looks out across the marsh. There are always ponies, at least in the distance. If you're lucky they will be right up along the road. Sometimes they hang out right at the ocean with the other beach lovers.

Our favorite trail is the bivalve trail off of the woodland trail (~2 miles round trip). The wildlife loop is open to cars after 3pm. The Bike Depot is just before the entrance and rents bikes, helmets, even kids seats and trailers for a reasonable price. Entrance to the refuge is free via bike or foot.

Some of the best trails and wildlife splendor - as a Refuge this area allows one to experience the natural beauty of the Eastern Shore!

Halfway through the wildlife loop is a short path to the beach. Off the beaten path. Not private but way less people than the parking lot beach. If you wait until the afternoon they open the loop to car traffic and you can park closer to the path.
