A fun way to experience the Salmon run. If you time it during lunch, stop by The Lock Spot for fish and chips.
A National Historic site, busiest locks in the nation. Operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Especially interesting when the salmon are running, June-September. www.ballardlocks.org
Seattle is surrounded by water and it really is one of the coolest things about our city. The Ballard locks is where the fresh water meets the salt water so the water height difference is pronounced. It's pretty cool to see the technology and you can even watch the fish swimming up the ladder.
