Clear Comfort, 19th-century photographer Alice Austen's family home, is also one of New York's oldest buildings, dating back to 1690. It now houses a large collection of her work, as well as frequent exhibitions of contemporary shutterbugs.
Historic home on the harbor with outstanding views. Museum opens daily and a great place for a local picnic. Walking distance.
Over 200 years old, house owned by Alice Austin, photographer and civil servant from pre-civil war era. One of our Ferries has her namesake. Surrounding park and lawns have beautiful views of New York harbor and Varenzanno Bridge. Occasional art exhibits and festivals.
The Alice Austen Museum features also a nice park with a great view. Watch the ships cruising by on a nice sunny day.
