The north end of the beach is fronted by a low curving wall that’s an always-changing display of street art. Further south at Lincoln Way, there’s another one worth checking out. Just bring an extra layer—no matter what the weather is like in the rest of the city, out here you might walk into a fog bank so thick you can't see the water. At the north end of the beach near the Cliff House restaurant, take a look inside the Camera Obscura—a rare device that uses sunlight to project an image of the outside surroundings onto a surface inside. It’s based on a 15th century design by Leonardo da Vinci.

On a sunny day it doesn’t get any better than watching a sunset on the beach with a beer in your hand.
Stunning San Francisco beach!! As a former San Franciscan, I used to live within walking distance of this spot. It’s a little piece of home for me.
SF's federal seashore replete with year-round waves, migratory birds, urban art, driftwood, sand dollars, dungeness crab, bonfires, epic sunsets and more. Surprisingly clean given its proximity to a major US city. If you keep your eyes peeled, you may even catch Danny Glover jogging by.
Sunshine and fresh ocean sea breeze! Kate, surf, run. Lots of sand to build sand castles and hear the sound of the Pacific Ocean waves. Strong tide under currents!
Great walk by the ocean. Bring your sneakers and a light jacket. Drive there, park your car, and take a nice walk from Ocean beach to the Cliff House. Can lunch at the Cliff House with Ocean views. About 5 to 6 miles away.
