The visitor center is a perfect introduction to the Kodiak NWRefuge. Within walking distance from the Cope Street property, a full-sized whale skeleton hangs from its ceiling, and a touchable relief map shows Kodiak's vast regional resources. Information about the bears, salmon and other wildlife is available, and it's all FREE. A lovely gift shop run by the Alaska Geographic Society offers some unique gifts.
