The Summer Palace was the getaway spot for Chinese royalty in ancient times. Though packed with tourists, if you're going to see any of the temple relics make sure this is top of the list.

The largest royal garden in China! Beijing's Summer Palace is a parklike imperial retreat spread out over 10 square miles. 11km away, subway Line 10 change to Line4 get off at Beigongmen Exit A1.
