You can ride the ferry across the Mississippi to Algiers Point from here on the commuter ferry - it's a short and beautiful trip to a historic area of the parish. A favorite! $2 for peds/bikes.

Yes it's a dive, but full of local characters. They play sports games on TVs. Get a pitcher (4 wooden tokens, each worth a beer in a plastic cup) and hang out front, watching the streetcar go by.

As a real English person, I'd say this is one of the most authentic English pub's I've seen in the south. Go over to cute Algiers Point as a foot passenger on the ferry and get a pint and some crisps.
