This neighborhood is where many young adults go for bar crawling. It's not exactly easy to get there via public transportation. www.wmata.com and try to plan the route.

This free Smithsonian museum is in the heart of Gallery Place. It has a beautiful courtyard where you can sit and rest. The art is terrific. It is open 11:30 am to 7 pm. You can go there at the end of the day after other museums close.

In addition, there are many brick and mortar stores and restaurants surrounding it. I take all of my out of town friends here to visit it.

Bidwell is a real, sit-down restaurant inside that has nice food, too. There are a few local shops with speciality items inside, too. You can google the area, as there are many more restaurants outside the market to choose from.

And, a major bus line, the X2, stops at 16 and Benning Road NE. Take this bus WEST towards Chinatown/Gallery Place or further on to Metro Center.
You will need a Smartrip card. You can get one a the metro station.
