This Japanese restaurant has been popular since its opening and for good reason. The food & service are excellent! Go early if you want a seat without a wait, otherwise bring a book!

Another great neighborhood spot! I go here whenever I start feeling ill or just want something healthy and flavorful! The guys here will be happy to help you pick the right juice or Ethiopian food!

This is one of my favorite local spots. Not only do they have a great selection of drinks, but the food is always surprisingly good for a bar/grill. Their chopped salad is cravable!

This is a great coffee shop. Much smaller than Kissaten, but the coffee itself is just as great, from Counter Culture. They also have baked goods from Balthazar which are a nice treat.

I was so sad when Floridita was closed for over a year. Their cuban food is classic and filling. But the one thing you can not miss is their flan! The creamiest that you'll come by!

This upstate native BBQ joint is a fun atmosphere with a great tap beer selection to pair with their tasty ribs (they have other things, but do yourself a favor and get those ribs!)

As a food tour guide I am often asked for my favorite pizza place and this is definitely on the list! Go hungry though...the slices are twice the size of a regular, and just as great!

These guys know bagels! There's another bagel shop in the area that gets more press and lines out the door...but I'm a true NY'er and to me this is the better bagel by far!

DELICIOUS & Fresh! They use mostly organics and local ingredients to bring you some of the tastiest food in the area. The menu is a bit pricier than other options, but well worth it!

This is definitely the most beautiful university in Manhattan. It's the oldest college in NY and most of its buildings respect its history. You'll find it a great escape from city life.

A great memorial for General Ulysses S. Grant in a great location. It's even more spectacular when decked out in American flags. Sometimes there are concerts or events here as well.

Steps from the apartment is one of the nicest parks in New York. Along the water, this beautiful greenspace offers a variety of vistas and perfect picnic spots! It's where I workout weekly.
