Must-see for history buffs! Fascinating and well-preserved fort from Oregon Trail days. Some days they have "living history" events with actors who also serve as tour guides. Plan to spend a couple hours here (in the summer, bring a lunch and enjoy a picnic). It's about 2 hours from Cheyenne. You can combine the trip with a visit to Register Cliff.

This historic site boasts many old restored buildings and provides the local communities with fun activities during the holidays. Having grown up around the area, this site has been one of my favorites. If you get a chance, try some Sarsaparilla (historic soft drink) from the historic bar!

A great way to step back into history. The buildings, historical artifacts and information really give insight into the life military had back on the fort.
