A short, moderate hike to a historic area full of mine relics and high alpine lakes. The trail is completely above tree line, starting at 11,748 feet elevation. Distance: 2.8 miles Elevation Gain: 1131 feet Directions: From the intersection of Main Street and Ski Hill Road/Lincoln Avenue drive south on Highway 9 approximately 8 miles to Blue Lakes Road (No. 850). Turn right. At the fork, go straight and follow the road 2.2 miles. Park just below the dam. The trailhead is just above the dam at its north end.

This is a great hike that you can make however long or short you want. Start by the dam and you immediately have beautiful views of the lake, Quandary Peak and surrounding mountains. You can follow the trail all the way to the upper blue lake which is very lightly traveled or just hike around the lower lake. Whatever you choose, this is a great place to explore Breck's amazing flora and fauna.

The road is not maintained in the winter but incredible high alpine trails at the base of Quandary. Mountain Goats frequent the area.
