This is our favorite trail. There are so many things to explore on this historic river. You can take a stroller, bike, walk, hike, or hammock. There are many access points and the trail system that can transport you to different neighborhoods around petoskey. Fishing or watching others fish on the river is open all year.
This scenic, 1.5-mile stretch along river banks features trails, boardwalks & whitewater rafting.
Year-round fun! A wonderful amenity in Petoskey, the Bear River Valley Recreation Area touts a 1.5 mile path along the beautiful Bear River. Walk, bike or cross-country ski and birding is popular here and along the Petoskey waterfront. Pedestrian observation decks and restrooms are available in a few spots. In the winter, bring your snowshoes. This beautiful facility also includes a 1/4 mile long whitewater course - the only one of its kind in the lower peninsula. To google a starting point, enter 101 East Lake Street. The path runs between Lake and Sheridan streets.
