The Debilly footbridge, 120 meters long and 8 meters wide and reserved for pedestrians and bicycles, was built in 1899 for the Universal Exhibition of 1900. Its name honors the Napoleonic general of Billy, who died in battle Of Jena in 1806. Like the Eiffel Tower the bridge was to be destroyed after the exhibition, but the city of Paris acquired it in 1902, in order to preserve it. In 1906, after modifications, the bridge is moved. The work connects the quai Branly and the musée du quai Branly and the Avenue de New York and the Palais de Tokyo, a modern art museum in the city of Paris. It is located upstream of the Iéna bridge and downstream of the Alma bridge.
