The drive to grand coulee dam takes you through the gorge carved out by the Great Missoula floods during the ice ages. Palisades of basalt line the roadway. There are caves to explore. Swimming and boating on Banks Lake The dam light show every evening is beautiful

A 46-story building constructed during the Great Depression, the dam features an excellent visitors’ center showing actual construction footage movie of the dam in the 1930s.
