Rent a bike and head in the direction of Alexandria along a wonderful trail by the Potomac. Stop at the Washington Sailing Marina for a cold beverage and a burger and watch the planes take off and land at Reagan National as the sun sets over the capital.

This is where we had fun growing up! There is a restaurant on the site, and it's near Regan National Airport if you're on the way there.

Go to Dangerfield Island / Washington Sailing Marina for a view of the Potomac River, rent a kayak or sailboat, and have an outdoor picnic. Also has access to the Mount Vernon walk/bike trail.

Just watch the sailboats or rent a sailboat / paddleboard / etc. for yourself. And enjoy the craft beers on tap and terrific shakes (including adult shakes :-) ).
