When the sun's out if the main beach is too packed for you , take a stroll down the seafront past the Turner and you'll come to the Tidal Pool at Walpole Bay. A great place to get your swim on, and who knows old Victorian Bathing Carriage which nowadays is a Sauna might be open!

Huge, beautiful Victorian Tidal Pool at Walpole Bay for open water swimming. Access this two hours either side of high tide and there are ladders to get in off the wall. Open to the public at all times but there are no facilities.

Quieter and loads of beach space. Perfect for young swimmers and dedicated lap-swimmers. SUP, kayaking and swimming are all just down the stairs from the cliff-top.

This outdoor tidal pool allows people of all ages and abilities to swim in the sea without the dangers of strong currents etc. A real local favourite. Recommend wearing swimming shoes as it can be a little rocky under foot.

Walpole Bay tidal pool is good fun if you fancy a dip or a paddle. We go crabbing there with the kids. You just need some bacon and can pick up crab lines from the pound shops next door to Cliffs Cafe on Northdown Rd. You can also take a disposable BBQ down with you or picnic and watch the amazing sunsets.
