Poljica Historical Museum was opened on May 4, 1974, on the initiative of the then parish priest of Gata, Don Frane Mihanović, and its purpose is to preserve the tradition and memory of the past of the ancient Poljica principality. The exhibition space houses a number of interesting exhibits, while the space is dominated by a large wall mosaic, the work of academic sculptor and painter Joko Knezevic from 1981.
