The Cathedral of Turin is dedicated to the Saint Patron of the city: St John. Turin's cathedral was built between 1491 and 1498 on the site of three 14th-century basilicas and, before that, a Roman theatre. The church has a Renaissance style façade made in white marble with three portals decorated with reliefs. In the XVII century, the Cathedral was enlarged and it was added a chapel for the Holy Shroud, a real Baroque masterpiece made by Guarino Guarini. The Chapel hosted for long time the famous relic of the Holy Shroud (alleged to be the burial cloth in which Jesus' body was wrapped after the crucifixion and on which Jesus' body was wrapped after the crucifixion).
