Holds part of the remaining 3% of the native tropical dry forest, great for bird watchers. Home to the endangered Guayaquil Macaw with a variety of short to long trails. You need to book in advance a guide and the hike you want to do. Can be combined with a visit to Manglares Puerto Hondo... for a Kayak ride in the mangroves. You need a taxi to get here, outside of the city.

A tropical dry forest reserve home of a large variety of birds and mammals. You can visit this reserve and do long hikes in nature with a guide. It's about 15 km (20 min drive) from the city. Don't forget to bring your mosquito repellent.
