Only 5 miles from Turtle Cottage, Castle Espie is a must for all nature lovers. Part of Sir Peter Scott's group of UK-wide Wildfowl and Wetland Trust centres, it has Northern Ireland's best wildfowl collection and some of the best views over the north end of Strangford Lough. The shop, cafe and gallery all add to an already great day out.

Collection of wildfowl from around the world including breeding NeNe fromm Hawaii; bird hides overlooking Strangford Lough where thousands of wild Brent Geese can be viewed in winter; excellent cafe; great kids play area.

You can pay to walk around the duck ponds and wetlands, or just grab a coffee with a great view of the wetlands. I also used to park here and go on some great road runs

Castle Espie offers a magical mix of wide estuary views, tidal lagoon, woodland walks, salt marshes and reed beds; a chance to discover Ireland’s largest collection of native and exotic water-birds
