A 1.5-km swim from the sands of Manly Beach to Shelly. It happens 365 days a year, and is organised by a swim group called Bold and Beautiful. They meet at the Manly Life Saving Club, swim 750 metres to Shelly, then return. All swimmers are welcome, but know that you should be comfortable swimming in the ocean—there are some waves as you head out. Arrive at 6.45 am—the swim starts at 7—to pick up your hot pink swimming cap. Bring your own goggles because there’s a reef near Shelly, so you should be able to see fish along the way.
