Kids of all ages love the turtle farm. Piles of sand keep sea turtle eggs safe until the babies are ready to be released. Big turtles swim in tanks and in the Caribbean. A must see for animal lovers.
Every year, thousands of giant sea turtles lay their eggs on the sandy beaches of Isla Mujeres. Their eggs are gathered and placed in pens at the Turtle Farm to protect them from predators. For a small entrance fee, you can tour the facility and see various species of sea turtles and other marine life. The mission of Tortugranja is conservation and rehabilitation of different marine life, not to permanently house them. Depending on the time of year, you can see and feed baby sea turtles before they are released back into the ocean. All entrance fee donations help maintain their efforts. Every year hundreds of sea turtles survive thanks to Tortugranja and the support of its visitors. Although not large, it’s worth the stop! Entrance is about $30 MXN (or $3 USD) and is open daily 9 AM - 5 PM.
