They make great goat cheese here and the goats are available for petting, yoga with goats and goats as lawnmowers!
In 2003, Karen and Michael Catapano, a nurse and doctor, respectively, bought a small goat farm in Mattituck. During their second year as goat farmers, they entered the American Cheese Society Annual National Competition and came in first place. Popularity ensued, and in 2005, they moved to the current farm’s location in Peconic, increasing their herd to about 100. In 2020, after 17 years of goat bliss, the Catapanos decided to retire and sold the farm to Erin and Connor Burke. The Burkes are keeping the Catapano name and the wonderful Catapano cheese and skincare products.
