“Anagach Woods are a beautiful natural Scots pinewood, the haunt of the Capercaillie. There are several waymarked trails through the woods; one route is longer and takes in part of the River Spey as well as the woods themselves. Park in the centre of Grantown-on-Spey. Take the turning off the east side of the main street, opposite the Co-op; it is signed for Speyside Way, River Spey and Anagach woods. Follow this road past the fire station and keep straight on at the staggered cross-roads. The road runs alongside the golf course before reaching a parking area for the woods with an information sign.”

“OK its not in Aviemore, but it worth the little trek out on the way to the RSPB Osprey centre at Loch Garten. Amazing coffee served by wonderful staff. Whilst your coffee and cake is being served, go take a look at the wonderful works of James Gordon, renowned landscape photographer. Used to be the village hall which was replaced in another location with a new one, flogged off and turned into this gem of a business.”
